A Gift Given, an Honor Bestowed

August 24th, 2008 - On this afternoon, author of "The Legend" Steve Cook was a special guest for the second straight year at "Dogwood and Cat Tales," the annual reunion event hosted by A.C. Paw, the no-kill animal shelter and rescue group based in Mancelona, Michigan. And for the second straight year, we were was pleased to offer assistance to the homeless, abused, and neglected animals that have been fortunate enough to fall under the protective wing of this remarkable group.

Steve presented a check for $2,500.00 to A.C. Paw founders Brian Manley and June McGrath, noting that A.C. Paw has been responsible for saving and placing into loving homes nearly 5 thousand animals over the past 13 years.

Manley and McGrath then turned the tables on Steve, presenting him with the A.C. Paw "Lifetime Achievement" award. The lovely oak plaque is laser engraved with the following inscription:

"A.C. Paw Lifetime Achievement Award
Presented to Steve Cook on August 24th, 2008
For outstanding and consistent support for the homeless, abandoned, and abused animals throughout the period of January 1996 to July 2008"

Our thanks to Brian and June, and all of the tireless A.C. Paw volunteers and foster families. God bless you for everything you do. Keep up the good work!
