The Gift of the Legend Comes Full Circle
January 15, 2007 - When WTCM Radio first started selling cassette tapes of "The Legend" over the counter and by mail over 20 years ago, author Steve Cook decided to give all the profits to his favorite charity - The Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City, Michigan. That first donation check helped the CHS drill a desperately needed water well in 1987.

This year, that gift has come full circle.
On December 12th, Steve Cook presented Cherryland Humane Society executive director Mike Cherry with a check for $1,200, representing a portion of the proceeds from sales of the 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition CD/DVD set. The money will go to support the wonderful work of this organization, which finds homes for hundreds of homeless dogs and cats every year, and works tirelessly to educate pet owners about the importance of spaying and neutering their animals.
A few days later, a second check was sent to A.C. Paw, the no-kill animal rescue group based in Mancelona, Michigan. This donation in the amount of $1,500.00 was the second contribution of the year from "Legend" proceeds to the A.C. Paw group (see related story).
For the year, Mindstage Productions was overjoyed to donate a total of $5,200.00 to these two very worthy organizations. It is our sincere hope that this money will make life a little easier for the homeless, neglected, and lonesome animals of our area.
Of course, none of this would have been possible without the generosity of the hundreds of people who purchased the Collector's Edition. Thank you for a stupendous year!
