"The Legend" Returns to Luther

June 30th, 2007 - On a warm summer night in the village of Luther, Michigan, "The Legend" of Michigan's dogman came alive. Accepting an invitation from John and Roz Gamarra, the owners of the Luther Grocery, Steve Cook agreed to make an appearance on June 30th, 2007, to sign autographs and perform the song live.

The evening coincided with Luther Logging Days, an annual event that pays homage to Luther's long and colorful history of lumbering. Steve and his lovely wife Pamela arrived in the WTCM Country Cruiser van around 5:30 pm, and set up under a canopy in front of the grocery store. Along with a colorful table, the exhibit was backed by a 7 foot tall dogman, and a rack of dogman "Sightings" t-shirts, available only from Luther Grocery.

For the next three hours, enthusiastic fans lined up to meet the author of the song that had made their town famous. Steve autographed over 100 copies of the 20th Anniversary CD/DVD set (as well as a number of other items from T-shirts to envelopes), answered questions, and even soothed the concerns of a few youngsters who were scared of the dogman.

Around 10pm, Steve took to the stage, and with outstanding backup from John's band (whose members had just a week to learn the music!), performed the song live for a crowd of several hundred people.
