Growing numbers of Michiganders claim a huge canine of unknown species walks upright around the Wolverine State, and has for many years. The question has always been whether these creatures are fact or legend. Steve Cook's musical narrative, "The Legend," began with tales dating back to lumber camp days. But the reports kept coming! His new Legacy Edition, which includes not only an updated version of "The Legend" but a must-see video compilation of possible sightings, is a beautifully produced package. While the video offerings vary in plausibility, it is very instructive to see them all in one place with professional editing. And they make the words of "The Legend" all the more chilling. The unique "Gable Film" is at once the creepiest and most baffling video segment, and helps nail Cook's Legacy Edition as mandatory for any cryptid researcher or aficionado of the unknown.

"The Legend of Michigan's Dogman - Legacy Edition is a wonderful and worthwhile addition to any DVD/CD collection. The song itself is beautiful and haunting, while the video is very exciting. I found the video analysis very interesting and hope to hear more about it in the future. The music is wonderfully done and very entrancing. The addition of the 'haunting' stories helps to add to the 'spooky' feeling of the CD."

"This is a wonderful DVD/CD and is most definitely worth the cost. Thanks to Steve and everyone that worked on it." - Vince K.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the DVD. I had never seen the Gable film before. Freaked me out! I didn't watch it alone...and the ghost stories readings? Ah, loved those. I was content to listen to them in the safety and security of my home...and not while out camping. Phew! Thanks again!" - Irene A.

"Well the package arrived today and I have to say it's great. The DVD has the video for the song is wonderful and having the images to go along with the music really does add to the atmosphere it creates. The FAQ was a nice touch and gave some very worthwhile information about the song and Steve himself. The evidence examination was very well done and nicely presented, though I would like to see some more in depth examination of some of the items (the seven chutes pic especially). I thought the examination of the Gable film was well done and nicely presented.

"The CD has the song, as well as an instrumental version of the song. There is also the Sigma Story which seems very interesting (and yes the place shows up on maps, but there is no town there). The Onstar emergency call - all I can say about this is HOLY CRAP. Then of course there are the haunting stories, all of which are very nice and interesting.

"All in all I think it is a great collection of information and some great entertainment.

"Well, my 'The Legend ; The Legacy Edition' cd/dvd combo arrived this morning and I have to say it is a real treat. A first rate piece of work. VERY slick and professional. I doubt Hollywood itself could do better. The CD has crisp sound and excellent musicianship.

"It is just a really cool listen. There is "The Legend II : the Sigma Story" also. This is a "P.S." type of continuation of the original song, which tells the creepy story of a town that goes abandoned after dogmen start to prowl and howl there. And the three "Haunting of Northwest Michigan" spook stories are great, too. Real chillers, well rendered. Great campfire stuff.

"The photo report section is absolutely fascinating. We have a whole crew of qualified experts who really gave some photos and films a "going over".

"There are several images analyzed here. One of them is the "Beast of the Seven Chutes", which the panel declares "indeterminate". One other image is thrown out completely as a recomposited publicity still from the movie "Dog Soldiers" . Yet another image that is used in the "Legend" video itself is argued about by two panelists; one who thinks there's retouching going on and one who thinks there isn't. Another striking photo is what seems to be a gigantic dog or wolf standing upright in a meadow. One expert allows as that it looks like it might be a wolf scouting out some deer (which were nearby, says the photographer). Says wolves sometimes WILL stand up----like bears do----to check things out. Problem is that they "only do it for a few seconds", as they aren't really built for that---whereas the photographer swears that this thing stood upright for absolutely two minutes before dropping down onto all fours.

"The Gable film is last and this is the whing-dinger. They did not just do a frame-by-frame analysis of it, they even broke it down into partials. They had "beaucoup" images to work from, and what came out of this is what the hubbub is about. They agree that an early image shows a human-like foot as the beast first starts to move. Quickly then the leg of that foot seems to CHANGE shape and the "foot" goes to a paw as well. All this is viewed WITH light play figured INTO the evaluation . Then the thing moves forward and turns slightly to its left. THIS is where the real hullabaloo begins. At this point a kind of "ripple" appears to move across the torso and the thing looks to EXPAND in size. It literally gets BIGGER and is not really moving!!!! This is the part where so many of us had the "morphing" experience. I am still fuzzy myself over this leg/foot business, but NOT fuzzy at ALL over what I see when this booger does this little slight left turn. It GROWS----in front of my eyes-----and there is nothing there that has anything to do with any trick of the light. The S.O.B. EXPANDS, and becomes even more gorilla-like than it already was (and the big strapping shoulders were there from the get-go). And, as Linda points out on her radio interview with Cook, this kind of morph flow is EXACTLY what was once reported to her by a witness and was recounted in Chapter One of her book "Hunting the American Werewolf". Said its shape and leg structure began to change; go from one form to another like some bizarre, distorted "break dance". This is not a half bad description of what we see with this Gable "whatsit".

"When I watched the footage again after hearing the commentary, I felt the hair on the back of my neck go up as I watched that creature's image seem to waver and expand at that key point. I thought "DAMN!"------and still do.

"This CD/DVD package is a humdinger, folks
